First Day of School

So yesterday was our first Sunday in our new ward :)
Well.. it's the same ward.. just all new people moved in for Fall.
Our bishopric and their wives spoke and they are all so tender. I love them.
And we met a lot of new people who were all super nice and fun, and there were definitely some cuties ;)
Today was the first day of school.
I always get really nervous but mostly really excited for the first day of school
and can't sleep good for the night before. This happened once again.
Heather gloated about how she gets to be with attractive rich business men in her classes
 (She majors in finance)
I bragged that I get to go to school with.... married women.
(I am majoring in Elementary Education)
She was jealous. Obviously.
Then we went with Steph, Ashley and Bjork to McDonalds for McNugget Monday!
Fun day.

Excited for this year. Bring it on school.

I am so blessed to have gotten in to BYU.
Seriously, I don't know how it happened. I SHOULDN'T be here.
Some people didn't have this opportunity, and I don't know why I did, but I'm grateful for it!

Open House

I love weddings!!
They are so happy and fun.
Ashley and I drove down to Price last night for Kirra McBride's open house.
She's a wonderful, beautiful, now married woman.

Emily Branch and I

Funny story.......
So...I was a State Officer for FCCLA with Emily Branch.
Ashley Larsen was in FCCLA, and was state before we knew each other.
Ashley is best friends with Kirra, who is marrying Emily Branch's brother.
Ashley is of my best friends.
Kirra is one of Ashley's best friends.
Craziness.

They like to Stanky Leg

And lift each other up.

New Student Orientation

So right before school started, Ashley and I were Y Group Leaders for New Student Orientation!
It was super fun.
We had lots of yummy food, gave them a tour of campus,
played games, and watched fireworks at the football stadium.
Pretty epic.
It made me proud to be a Cougar, and glad that I made the decision to come to BYU.

I have a problem.

So I've had this problem since I was little....
it has caused me a few issues and embarrassing moments over the years..
You probably already know this if you know me at all.

But I'm the pickiest eater EVER.

Like it's bad.
I eat like a child.
My major don'ts
1. Most Vegetables (Tomatoes, Potatoes, Onions, Peppers, Spinach, Zucchini, Corn, Peas, Beans etc)
2. Condiments. I guess this one isn't that bad because these things aren't really good for you anyway...
but I can't stand ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, most sauces, any salad dressing but ranch.
 3. Seafood (Except Salmon) but especially Tuna. It's just gross and it smells really bad and I can't stand it.

The things I do like
1. Most fruits ( Apples, Bananas, Pears, Grapes, Oranges, etc)
2. Meat (Chicken, Beef, etc)
2.  Deserts :) ( Obviously. Major sweet tooth here)

I'm trying to do better. I really am. On Rachel Ray the other day though, they were talking about people who are "super tasters." They are people who have more taste buds than others. So they taste bitter tastes super bitter and sweet tastes extra sweet. I think this might explain my situation as to why I can't stand vegetables but I also have a major sweet tooth. But she said the answer is to slowly keep introducing yourself to new foods. So that's the plan :)

Modest is Hottest

Modest is Hottest, Ladies. "I find the whole concept of being ‘sexy’ embarrassing and confusing. If I do an interview with photographs people desperately want to change me - dye my hair blonder, pluck my eyebrows, give me a fringe. Then there’s the choice of clothes. I know everyone wants a picture of me in a mini-skirt. But that’s not me. I feel uncomfortable. I’d never go out in a mini-skirt. It’s nothing to do with protecting the Hermione image. I wouldn’t do that. Personally, I don’t actually think it’s even that sexy. What’s sexy about saying, ‘I’m here with my boobs out and a short skirt, have a look at everything I’ve got?’ My idea of sexy is that less is more. The less you reveal the more people can wonder. - Emma Watson

Day at the Zoo

So I haven't had work this past week and I went and hungout with John and Haley's on Wednesday night.
We made a campfire and had smores.
It was way fun, except for poor Steve got stung by a bee.......ouch.
The next day Haley and I went to the zoo with the kids!
Landon and Grace, and two other kids that Haley babysits during the day.
Let me tell you, it's tougher than it sounds to take four kids under the age of 4 to the zoo.
But worth it :) So fun.

Haley and all the kids! (Except Grace is in her stroller)

I love their smiles in this one. Ha ha!

They loved the Giraffes!

Eiw.......

Crocodiles! AH!

The chillins

Ya, they are pretty cute :)

Summer Adventures

Once upon a hot summer day...
Lil' Heathen, Lil' Red, and I went on a nature walk up Provo Canyon to Bridal Veil Falls.
I love summer, nature, and both these girls. So it was a very good day for me :)

Some people in our ward were going hiking up Mount Timp late at night, and we decided to go with the
"get slurpees" group instead. Always a good choice.

Okay okay... this is a bad picture but it's the only one I've got. We set out  blankets on Dan's car and tried to see a meteor shower that was apparently happening but had no luck. But it was fun anyway.

If you haven't yet, go have some summer adventures!

Marjorie Pay Hinckley

I have been reading about this amazing woman lately.
She's incredible.
She and her husband were a near perfect model of what a marriage should be.
I want to model my marriage after theirs.

They both had a really great sense of humor and kept each other laughing.

Aren't her eyes just full of kindness, love, and the love of Christ?
Here are some of my favorite quotes from her:

"The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache."

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

"The trick is to enjoy life. Don't wish away your days, waiting for better ones ahead."

"Think about your particular assignment at this time in your life. It may be to get an education, it may be to rear children, it may be to be a grandparent, it may be to care for an relieve the suffering of someone you love, it may be to do a job in the most excellent way possible, it may be to support someone who has a difficult assignment of their own. Our assignments are varied and they change from time to time. Don't take them lightly. Give them your full heart and energy. Do them with enthusiasm. Do whatever you have to do this week with your whole heart and soul. To do less than this will leave you with an empty feeling."

Boise Weekend!

First, Mom and I went to Brugges in Salt Lake on our way to pick up Dad from work.
It is a Belgian Waffle place in Salt Lake. The owner is really from Belgium.
My Dad went there on his mission, but he has tried it and he says that they are not as good as in Belgium.
But I don't know how they could be any better.
Mom and I are a little obsessed.....

A.K.A The Celestial Kingdom. Pretty sure.

Where's Waldo? ... I'm on TOP of the building.

Ahhh................... my mouth is watering just looking at this picture.

Dad likes to drive with sunglasses, but his were broken. Mine were there though, but they were broken too.
He wore them anyway, and it looked awesome :)
